The Foundation

Why Carnatic Music?

Carnatic music forms the foundation of most music we hear today — including film and contemporary styles. A student who understands this system deeply can learn and adapt to any style later, much faster and with more confidence.

Early progress may feel gradual because the focus is on accuracy in pitch, rhythm, and voice control. That strong base pays off for life.

How We Teach

Every Class

Each session follows a clear, productive structure so no time is wasted and every student progresses.

1
Revision Reinforce what was learnt last time — repetition builds mastery
2
New Concept One new idea introduced with care and context
3
Guided Practice Student sings with teacher guidance and correction
4
Feedback Specific, encouraging notes on what to work on at home

At Home

Practice is the Key

Classes run twice a week — 8 per month. But real progress happens between sessions. Short, consistent practice at home makes all the difference.

Practice Routine

Starting Out
15–30 min daily
After 1–2 months
30+ min daily
Repetitions
4–5 times per lesson
How to Practice
Start slow → increase speed gradually → always use shruti (tanpura / drone)
The Rule: Progress in class + Practice at home = Results

What to Expect

Progress Milestones

With regular, daily practice here is what you can realistically expect:

1 Month
Familiar with all seven swaras and basic exercises
3 Months
Comfortable with scale patterns, voice starts to stabilise
6 Months
Clear improvement in voice clarity, pitch, and confidence

Without consistent practice, progress slows and lessons repeat. Short and daily is better than long and occasional.

Beyond Music

Life Skills Too

Music trains far more than the voice. Students consistently build these qualities through their practice.

🎯Discipline
🌟Confidence
🎨Creativity
🌱Patience

For Parents

How to Support Your Child

Your involvement makes a visible difference. You don't need to know music — you just need to be consistent.

🕐Set a fixed practice time each day — treat it like homework
👏Encourage consistency over perfection — effort matters most
🔇Keep the practice space quiet and distraction-free
📅Attend a monthly check-in to see where your child stands
🎤Encourage small recordings every 2–3 months to hear growth
